Charismatic, photogenic, original, pretty and talented. These are just a few adjectives to qualify this mysterious female rapper called ASHA.
Her style can be described as the type of hip-hop music that could be heard in the 90’s- Poetic rhyming over jazzy beats. And if you are good at figuring out hiding words, you can listen through her wordplay to read her mind.
Though Asha‘s EP- Masterbait is a year old, the quality of the work and its pureness, makes it timeless. My favorite track remains [Worst day ever], produced by O’bonjour.
This Half Trinidadian is not just holding it down for New Jersey. She is also playing her role in the resurrection of good music.
I actually spoke a bit with her recently on Soundcloud and she has promised to give this blog an interview soon. So if you are curious to know more about her, stay hook to Spin ‘N Holla. But in the meantime, go and listen to all of her works and see which one will be your favorite.
