SoundCloud, the Germany based Swedish, worldly acclaimed, the online distribution platform for artists or anybody with an audio product to upload and share, is getting sued by the PRS (the Performing Rights Society for Music), a UK songwriters group for copyrights infringements.
This was an email sent by Karen Buse, an executive director for the body to its members recently, which proved that a lawsuit is on, just after years of fruitless negotiation to break bread evenly.
Soundcloud has helped in giving, more opportunities to all music lovers and artists alike. Some artists were actually discovered through this platform. Take Lorde for example, she had her love club EP downloaded 60,000 times, which later led to her popularity.
I do hope the lawsuit doesn’t run the already embattled company down. Running SoundCloud off means most of us will be new slaves to giants like Apple, YouTube, Facebook and other big entities trying to control our music lives.
After careful consideration, and following five years of unsuccessful negotiations, we now find ourselves in a situation where we have no alternative but to begin legal proceedings against the online music service SoundCloud,”
