Eddie Murphy dabbles into reggae kingdom

Eddie Murphy just can’t stop reinventing himself. After a very successful career in stand up comedy and the movie industry, spanning over 20 years,

he is out again to conquer the highly spiritual but dying genre, Reggae Music. And what a way to go about it than through this new track, Oh Jah Jah, which reminds us much of the early days of legends like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, etc.

When he came out with Red light back in 2013, which featured Snoop Dogg (or Snoop Lion), a lot of critics thought he must have been on some Jamaican herb or something.

In his own word, Eddy Murphy said that he is not a ‘Rastafarian’. From this new effort, one could see that he is trying to prove a strong point of how much he is not a flash in a pan.

Eddie Murphy is to comedy what Micheal Jackson and Micheal Jordan are to Pop Music and Basketball respectively, but more because, while Jackson and Jordan remained and conquered there respectively fields, Murphy seems more daring to stray out of the ‘box’, into an area that other successful people like him, might be too uncomfortable and scared to dare.

Is he about to match his earlier successes in comedy and movies with Reggae? Only you can decide, as he is waiting for fans reaction to this track before dropping a complete album.  And guess what, ‘Oh Jah Jah‘ is already topping the Itune Reggae Music Chart. Maybe, we might just see him with a full album, SOON.
